We have chosen to use the web hosting companies Powweb.com and Ipowerweb.com as an example of a web hoster that has sufficient space, bandwidth and features for most ranch sites with online video. There are other companies such as valcato.net and free sites such as topcities.com that we have built sites on. We can help you register your domain name and setup your account with a web hosting company of your choice. The domain name and the contract with the web hosting company is in your name. The terms of agreement and contract are between you and the respective companies.

There are pros and cons to using a free site. Some of the cons that we have seen:
- Forced Advertising banners or popups on each page, with the problem of having no control over what type of ad is going to popup to your visitor.
- Bandwidth to support photos/videos can be more restrictive
- Photos cannot be hot linked ( picture location used by another site;ie, classified ads that hot link)
- Limited services such as customer support
- Outage time may be higher than with a paid service
- Your own domain name, www.YourName.com is not usually supported
- Sometimes Free sites go out of business or they change the services they offer so that you are forced to relocate your website and subsequently go find all of your link partner sites and try to get your new address information fixed.
- If you register your site address using the free sites Subdomain name and eventually purchase your own domain name and webspace, it is a lot of work to go back to each of the link sites and get your new address information fixed. Some link sites won't list you if you are on a free site.
-Since you can get your own webhosting account with no ads that will support your own domain name for the monthly cost that is less than the daily paper subscription ($8 or less a month) - I recommend that you buy your own web hosting space. Free companies come and go, it is hard for someone to take your site seriously if there are flashing advertisement banners all over your page or popping up every few seconds. The worst case is for an "adult" related ad to popup to your visitor. Speaking from experience, it can be a real shocker to have one of those ads popup. The real horror comes when you try and close one of them, they just propagate several more. Before long your entire screen is populated with unmentionables you can't seem to get rid of fast enough. This is certainly not the image you want to leave with a potential client.

Top Cities is one of the better Free Sites we have seen, with the only problem we have noted is that occasionally a site/account gets deleted without notification.
